The Demon is one of the best novels ever written. It's creepy as fuck, but there's something captured in this book that is both honest, male, terrfiying, and real. Vaguely like Death on the Installment plan by Celine, except it's heavily plot driven and less bitter (though most books probably are).

Amazing man tho. To live as long as he did, and dedicate his life to writing with all the shit he went through - impressive. I first heard of him through Rollins (as mentioned in the essay).
